Co-founder-Sister Serva

Sonia das Chagas was born April 23, 1961. In an encounter for youth in 1976, she had her first personal experience with God, and afterwards dedicated herself to evangelizing youth, participating in retreats and encounters. For six years she served as intercessor in the Sanctuary of the Byzantine Rosary with Padre Marcelo Rossi. At one of these retreats, she met Fr. Gilson, who also had begun to become involved in ministering to the youth in the peripheries of Sao Paulo.

A short time late, she accepted the invitation of Fr. Gilson to be with him at the front of the group that was being formed that became the “Fraternity the Poor of Jesus Christ”.

Sister Servant entered religious life and professed her first vows on January 14, 2007.
